IN MY EXPERIENCE THERE ARE JUST 5 THINGS THAT MAKE A GREAT 4WD

  1. BEAM AXLE FRONT AND REAR
  2. DISK BRAKES ALL ROUND
  3. COIL SPRINGS ALL ROUND
  4. A REASONABLE POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO
  5. RELIABILITY

No one vehicle or make is perfect, which is why we all modify our vehicles to try get as many of these points as possible. The more points above you have the more capable.

Yes there are ways around this with Traction aids, skid plates to make it slide, long leaf springs (and the soft suspension it creates), NOS, superchargers (with electric clutch) or Turbo's to bridge the gap and we do all these too. As a starting point we have found if you can tick as many of the above 5 as possible you have a better starting point.

This information is provided based on a customers personal experience with guidance from me, ideas gathered from many locations, and years of experience both his mine and with my dealings with other customers.

What was right for him or them or even right for me may not be right for you but we will explain the options/choices and the restrictions or limitations those choices create when upgrading our vehicles in the below sections.

These are the common questions in very generic terms, call me or call into the workshop for a chat about your requirements, these will give you some ideas and you can explain your path.
